1 credit = 1 hourEvery subject is worth the same. Your first credit is free once you join Skill Swap.
Teachers earn once it’s happenedThe credit is held until the learner confirms the lesson, or it settles 48 hours later if the teacher ran it on Skill-Hive.
Your credit comes backCancel 24 hours or more before, or if the teacher cancels or doesn’t show up.
Verified teachersEveryone who teaches is checked by the Skill-Hive team first, and every lesson can be reviewed.
Adults onlySkill Swap is for over-18s. Lessons for children are always with paid, verified teachers.
Time, not moneyCredits can’t be bought, sold or paid out. Hold up to 10; unused ones expire after 12 months.
Questions
Do I have to teach to use Skill Swap?
No. Your first credit is free, and you can always pay by card. But teaching is how you earn more credits, and everyone knows something worth teaching.
I’m a professional tutor. Does this undercut me?
Only if you want it to. You choose, lesson by lesson, whether learners pay by card, with a credit, or either. Many teachers offer one swap lesson to build reviews quickly.
Can I buy credits, or swap them for money?
No. Credits are a record of time, not money. Keeping them that way keeps Skill Swap simple, fair and outside payments rules.
What if a lesson didn’t happen?
Tell us on your Skill Swap page. The credit stays on hold and the Skill-Hive team decides who gets it, using what happened on the platform.
What happens to my credits if I close my account?
They’re lost, as they have no cash value. Spend them first.
